Dexter Axle has excellent applications support and products are sold locally at Pioneer Rim & Wheel. Daniel was the engineer I talked with at Dexter 574-296-7203 direct.
Typical mobile home trailer hardware is considered one time use. Bearings, springs, mounting, and such are lowest grade and durability. Brakes are less effective than standard and aren't serviceable.
We may want to go with better gear for re-use and possible to use the axles for a trailer after the setting the home. On the other hand, there is probably a glut of barely used axle assemblies.
Dexter can sell a 6,000 lb standard quality axle assembly (D60) with hubs that accept trailer house wheels (UTG). Typical tires are bolt-on rim bias ply with "mobile home" profile.
Axle tubes are 3" dia. Their standard bump clearance is 3" after fully loading. However, in one example configuration the actual throw of the spring is only .92" so the bump clearance of the wheel to the deck can be reduced to 1" or so. This gave an overall height of 29" ground to trailer deck.
